Guy Martin’s North West 200 Crash

Guy Martin did not compete in the North West 200 Superbike race. Although he called the North West 200 his final rehearsal for the Isle of Man TT, he didn’t make it until the actual race. During the supersport race, he crashed in a spectacular accident and – left without a scratch. But, to be fair, he did bang his head quite seriously which resulted in his team manager not allowing Guy to continue racing for the weekend.
Guy Martin on the accident:
“I’m disappointed to miss out on the meeting and pretty frustrated as I didn’t feel I was doing anything wrong when I tucked the front, even though the bike does get a bit unsettled through that bumpy section. I had a really stiff neck after the crash and I had taken a bit of a battering so it was best to sit it out. I’ll be grand for the TT.”
Philip Neill, Team Manager:
“It was unfortunate that Guy had to sit out the meeting after a very nasty crash in the opening race on Saturday. He took a fairly hefty bang on the head and was just not fit enough to race on, so it was best option.”
Let’s hope Guy doesn’t pull this sort of stuff on the TT – again. It seems that the 600’s and Guy Martin don’t quite mix together.
